There's a story behind the name "Sole Cracker" which best describes this band. In years gone by, way down south, local groups of musicians would draw people from far and near out of their rural homes to dance the night away at house parties called "hoe-downs", "bals de maison", or "fais do-do's". If the band was really good, folks would dance into the wee hours of the night, sometimes dancing until the soles of their shoes would crack! These bands were dubbed "a sole cracker".
